Over 55s enjoy banking online
Figures released by APACS, the UK payments association show that overall internet banking has grown by 174 per cent over the last five years with the biggest growth, 425 per cent, in the 55-64 age group. Coupled with the second largest increase, 275 per cent, in the 65+ age group it is clear that older web users are very keen on online banking.
A spokesperson for APACS said: “although confidence is growing in internet security, everybody needs to do some basic things to make sure they stay safe online.
“By following simple tips such as making sure your computer has up to date anti-virus software and a personal firewall installed, you can minimise your chances of being a victim of online fraud.”
