Misdirected pension cheques
An error in the processing of letters sent out to customers meant that 7,800 customers received cheques intended for someone else.
In response to this a DWP spokesman said:
“We would like to apologise to customers affected. A full investigation is underway.
“We can reassure customers that this was an isolated incident and swift action was taken to resolve it.
“We have already reissued payments and expect that affected customers should receive their cheques by Monday, July 30, the day their payment is due.
“We ask any of our customers who have received a cheque which is not for them to return it as soon as possible in the pre-paid envelope we have sent.
“We are working to find out how this happened, and to ensure that lessons will be learned.”
People who have been affected and who still have concerns should call The Pension Service on 0845 6060265.
