Senior citizen rock band release single

The Zimmers, a rock band made up of forty senior citizens, have recorded a version of The Who's classic song, My Generation. The single was recorded at Abbey Road, where the Beatles made most of their hits, and will be released in May.

Documentary maker Tim Samuels, who came up with the idea for the band, said: 'We wanted to take them on a rock 'n' roll journey that would challenge all our preconceptions of OAPs and give them a great time.'

Zimmers lead singer Alf Carretta said: 'I can't believe this is happening. For me to have recorded a song in the same studio as the Beatles is just so exciting.'

The video of My Generation, shot by grammy-winning director Geoff Wonfor, has already proved a success on YouTube. When the single is released The Zimmers will be hoping for chart success.
